Power supplies can be found in a number of applications. For this reason special attention must be paid to the specific safety regulations of the units to insure compliance to the regulations of the various country testing authorities, e.g. UL-VDE-etc.
The EMC conformity in accordance with EN 50081-1 and 82-1 while considering the system reaction in accordance with EN61000-3-2 for power supplies must be observed irrespecive of the circuit concept.
The ambient conditions, e.g. in a damp-environment, must be observed during the selection of the housing. For normal applications the type of protection is sufficient in accordance with EN 50529 IP 20 operation in dry rooms - protection against penetration from solid bodies. Power supplies are listed in protective classes 1 0r 2 in accordance with VDE 0106, part 1. All the units correspond to the low voltage directive due to the safe DC decoupling and provide SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage).
